Step by Step Installation of Solaris 8 OS

SF280R OS Installation Steps

Configuration: V480/2 * 900Mhz CPU/4GB RAM/FC Controller/2 * 36GB Internal HDD/

USB Keyboard & Mouse


ON SF280

STAGE I ---- OS Installation

=======

1. Mount OS DVD media on drive and access OK prompt by typing stop a (Note STOP key is

to left-top

of key pad)

2. At OK prompt type

OK> boot cdrom

This will access the DVD and OS installation beings

3. Choose Language as English (option 0)

4. Choose Locale as English (C-7 bit ASCII) -- Option 0

5. Welcome Screen -- Click Next

6. Select Networked Connection as yes -- Click Next

7. Choose (from ce0 & ce1) the Network Interface "ce0" -- Click Next

8. Select DHCP as "No" -- Click Next

9. Type the Hostname -- Click Next (as a practice, bccl- e.g. bccl-sijua)

10. Enter the IP address -- 90.0.0.1 ---Click Next

11. Enter the Netmask -- 255.0.0.0 -- Click Next

12. Select IPV6 as NO -- Click Next

13. SPECIFY the default Router -- Click Next

14. Enter the Router IP -- 90.0.0.1 --Click Next

15. For Enable Kerberose, Choose NO -- Click Next

16. Select NONE in Name Service options -- Click Next

17. Time Zone, select offset from GMT -- Click Next

18. Set the Value of Offset from GMT as 5 (drag the marker to right) -- Click Next

19. Confirm the Date & Time -- Click Next

20. Enter the root password & Confirm -- Click Next

21. Next window of Proxy server connection, Choose Direct connection to Internet -- Click

Next

22. List of all above selected option will be displayed and needs to confirmed -- Click

Confirm

23. Welcome Screen -- Click Next

24. Installation options, Choose Yes to Reboot Automatically and eject CDROM -- Click Next

25. Specify the source media location, select CDROM/DVD -- Click Next

26. Select type of installation as CUSTOM -- Click Next

27. Select Software Location -- Click Next

28. Select System LOCALE, POSIX English (POSIX C) -- Next

29. In Select Products Windows,

Deselect -- Solaris Documentation European & Solaris documentation Asian.

Select -- Solaris 8 software 2 of 2

-- Click Next

30. Select Additional Software Location, choose none (default) -- Click Next

31. Select "Entire Group plus OEM" in Solaris software group -- Click Next

32. Choose CUSTOM option -- Click next

33. On Selected clusters and packages, simply -- Click Next

34. Disk Selection Menu, Disks available and selected will be shown as c1t1d0 -- Click Next

35. Option for Preserve Data will be asked, choose NO -- Click Next

36. Layout the filesystem as follows on c1t0d0

Partition Filesystem Capacity an example

0 / 10000 MB

1 swap 8000 MB

Once done Apply and Click Next

37. Ready to install option would be displayed, Click on "Install now"

38. Two times the Pausing option would require you to click on Continue.

39. Ready to Install DiskSuite -- Click on Install now

40. After about 40min, the Installation Summary would be displayed and machine would

reboot.
